Online chess competitions
There are some Internet sites that make every year an online chess competition. They are very interesting because the games are open and everybody can observe them. Watching chess online has its advantages, because thus everybody can watch the games no matter where he is at the moment and which nationality are the players from. This is, in fact, very useful because different people have different ways of playing and the observers will broaden their knowledge. Online chess is very popular all around the world which makes it an international game. Almost everybody can play chess and now they have the possibility to play online with everyone in the world. All you need is a computer, Internet connection and persistence, because those, who play chess online, are very good at the game and have more experience than the rest of the players. I remember when I first started playing how devastated I was, because I hardly ever won. At one point I was actually thinking about taking professional chess lessons online, so I could improve my knowledge. But then I thought that if I play long enough my game will automatically become better. That was enough for playing online chess, but competing with actual people at those big halls is something completely different. When playing chess online you are at home, sitting in your chair and relaxing. There it is much different, much harder and intense. That’s why I never go to competitions. I play only online chess from home.
